there's an approach that could be taken that I haven't seen anywhere that would achieve the ideal of a completely reliable and predictable battery that always delivered the correct current, going beyond the questions listed above, though those are part of it.
this is about as beautiful as a machine can get, it vacuums beautifully, and it's build to last forever - except for the battery, so i can't recommend it. i'm always hatching these ideas, and my idea for this one was to retrofit these with better batteries - or even cords - as a crowd-sourced engineering project.
