The next and previous buttons are treated in such a cavalier way because the operators of Blogger don't think they are very important. And yet, they include them, because they do think they are very important.
There are certain atomic principles that define the structure of information. Web-wide, industry wide, we encounter this kind of ambivalence around the question of ... what is it? ... Maybe it is How they work, these principles? Or do they work? Do they even exist? They appear troublesome, as much as anything ... and yet, we can't seem to escape them. We encounter this Web-wide ambivalence because practitioners - web users, web developers - don't quite know what the real question is, or, it follows, how to answer it. Really the question is, what are they? What are the atomic principles of information?
